As far as I know alpha-testing has not started yet, so due to some issues this might be delayed to the end of month instead of end of week wink

Alpha-testing usually runs until all major features are implemented.

Beta-testing usually runs until all features are implemented and tested thoroughly.

The last phase will be release client testing, which should get rid of any show stoppers left.

After those phases have been run through the release will be made.

Since this is a commercial program it will take a while to get a new release out, since customers expect to get something for their money.

This is totally different from the release cycle of a personal utility, which is released early and enhanced while you are using it.

You do not sign up. Carl will contact LB users privately to invite them to become alpha testers.

To me that sounds a little rude and if I were Carl I probably wouldn't count people who make such comments among the Alpha Testers.

To answer your question though Liberty BASIC 5 will definitely come first.

Check out this article if you have any doubts......

Be patient and above all.....

Continue coding until we get there; no matter which one comes first!

I wasn't trying to be rude. If there is a chain, I'm gonna yank it. I've been making jokes all my life. In fact, my whole life is a joke!

Looking forward to having '5' to play with. It'll be midnight HERE shortly, but I can cope with delayed releases....

The Raspberry Pi was released-for-ordering about 6 months late, & at 6am in the morning. They expected ~10000 orders and got about 70000 in the first few minutes, crashing the website. That was 3 months or so ago & I only got mine 2 weeks ago.

Let's hope LB5 is equally popular. It shares the Pi's aim of handing programming back to a new generation used only to using apps designed by others.

I owe Carl a great deal for what he has created.

Yep, I remember discovering Liberty BASIC, that was an exciting time. Looking forwards to LB5 and as the summer looks to be a washout in the UK we should have plenty of time to help. "Render" is probably going to make me smile most.

Render is a Run BASIC command. I'm open to suggestions about how to implement that for Liberty BASIC. wink

If not render then some way to flip blit or show the in memory drawing, anyways I'm sure I will still be smiling.

Carl , Is there a way to incorporate the command to end flicking of the screen. When updating a graphics window I hide the window and then display it after my update. In josephs gxlibrary he does it one better. He updates the screen in another section of memory and I believe he copies it to the appropriate window. Ask Joseph, But I know either of these methods decrease flicker. I believe Joseph's method is better.
