Hi everybody,

I've written an application launcher using LB and I want to make it an open source project. You can find it at
http://pasoft.ca/launchpad.htm

Any advice on what license to attach to it before posting the code? Any one familiar with the General Public License? Is it even necessary to attach a license?

My goal is simply to have some fun, promote Liberty BASIC, and keep the project public. The code is very small, about 400 lines. It would be interesting to see where other people could take this.

Greg, if you'd like to see where other people take the code, your choice of the Open Source License seems appropriate. You could also consider a GNU / GPL license. Both allow users to freely modify and redistribute the code, but distributions must contain the original author's name. Usually the code contains the original author's name and then a listing of modifying authors and a phrase or two describing the modifications / additions.
Does the download include the source code?

Hi Janet, The source code and a .zip version are now posted on the bottom of the page. http://pasoft.ca/launchpad.htm I recommend installing the .exe version because it places files in the correct directory, sets the hotkey program to run on setup, and associates the data file with the program.

The installation file was made with Inno Setup. I found Alyces LB Companion and API books invaluable, as well as the Encyclopedia, Wiki, Conforums, and the Yahoo group as well. -Greg

There is a new release (v1.3) of LaunchPad posted at
http://pasoft.ca/launchpad.htm
It has a bug fix - after installation, the hot key need not be manually configured. This is accomplished by addition of the appropriate registry keys during installation.
