xx Forum Rules and Guidelines
« Thread started on: Jan 16th, 2005, 09:07am »

This is a forum owned and run by the community of Liberty BASIC users, along with Carl Gundel. Liberty BASIC is a programming language created by Carl Gundel of Shoptalk Systems in 1992.

Liberty BASIC by Shoptalk Systems can be found here:
http://www.libertybasic.com/

The official support group for Liberty BASIC can be found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/libertybasic/

Forum rules:

  • This forum exists for the promotion and discussion of the Liberty BASIC language by Carl Gundel. Other programming languages and competing products may not be promoted here.

  • No in-depth discussion of other programming languages is allowed. Other languages may be mentioned when discussing code to be converted or tools that can be adapted.

  • No reposting of content from this forum to other locations. You may, of course, repost your own code and comments where you please.

  • Conforums TOS requires members to be at least 13. Members who include ages younger than that in their messages or in their profiles will be removed.

  • No discussion of illegal activities. This includes pirated software, warez, cracks and decompiling of software. No links to sites that promote or condone illegal or unethical activity are allowed in messages or in member profiles.

  • This forum is for the discussion of the original Liberty BASIC language by Carl Gundel. Discussions of alternate implementations, such as Just BASIC and Run BASIC by Carl Gundel, and others by third party developers should take place on their own forums. This division helps avoid confusion.

  • No unsolicited emails or mass private messages will ever be sent by the staff. Members should not send unsolicited emails to other members, nor use the private messaging system to circumvent the forum's rules.

  • Messages that do not comply with the rules of this forum, and messages that are not in line with the spirit and goal of the forum, are subject to editing or removal by the administrators and moderators without warning.

  • Members who do not comply with the spirit of consideration and helpfulness embodied by this forum will be removed, as will members who do not follow the rules.

  • Posting on the boards here implies acceptance of these terms.

We cannot control the behavior or thoughts of others. We CAN treat others with consideration, respect, and a helpful, kind spirit.

Who runs this forum?
All of the administrators and moderators are programmers who use Liberty BASIC.

Updated January 10, 2016 to make two changes.

Registry Code may now be discussed on the API board. Recent versions of Windows include more safeguards to protect the registry from corruption, so we make this change. Please do not post harmful code. Such code will be removed without warning.

Yesterday one of our members asked if this was the proper place to discuss Run BASIC, and we directed that person to the dedicated Run BASIC board.

Our long-standing policy has been to redirect discussion of alternate implementations of Liberty BASIC to their own forums, but we had not documented this in our rules. Each implementation has its own, unique features, which could easily lead to confusion if they were all discussed on the same forum.
