xx Paid help wanted using Upwork
« Thread started on: Oct 20th, 2017, 11:17am »

Hi,
I am very eager to start working on a project using Liberty Basic and SQLite, but I cannot even get LB to work with SQLite. It could be something I am doing wrong or it could be a local problem on my laptop. Anyways, I want to move forward and I am prepared to pay for help, preferably through Upwork. Is anyone member of Upwork and capable of setting up LB with SQLite through Teamviewer?
Thanks.

Firstly I would share the code you are trying to use. That way folks will be able to judge your programming skills level and get a feel for what they might be taking on.

In my experience projects can get very complex very quickly. But you may be trying to do something relatively simple.

My problem is already described here: http://libertybasic.conforums.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=database&num=1499378065&start=30

I am stuck and cannot move on until I get some help.

Programming is an exact science. So let’s assume others have managed to get SQLite working.

Your attempts are failing. Where are you getting the .dll from and what EXACT version are you downloading and EXCTLY to where. What OS are you running and what is the directory structure. What EXACT code are you running to try and connect and what EXACT error messages are you getting?

Given other folks have managed to open and access databases we should manage to get you to that point.

However what is the next hurdle for you? If you have little experience of Liberty BASIC or little experience of SQLite then it might be a long hard road.

If you intend to pay for help there are other more appropriate forum to ask. Indeed you might find that your chosen solution to the problem is not the solution or toolset that a paid for programmer would choose.

And do you realise how much an experienced programmer would cost to employ?

This is in the main a recreational programmers forum, folks will be eager to help you, many will do it simply to help. However if your project is out and out commercial you are really in the wrong place.

Thank you. This thread is probably only of use to me, so can you delete it, please?

No need to delete the thread....

Did you resolve your issue? In the event that you did then just post what the solution was. In the event that you are still having problems feel free to continue and post questions.

I've had great success with Liberty BASIC/ SQLite and might be able to help you if you still need assistance. I would at least be willing to try...... smiley

No I did not. I am currently trying out VB.Net instead. But thank you.

Would this help?

Newsletter 106 has an article by Colin McMurchie called: Using the SQLite Database Manager in LB

VB.NET is about three times the complexity of Liberty. What would really help is if you posted code that fails instead of words that imply failure.

SQLite works with Liberty, we need to understand what specific comands you are issuing that are flawed.

So post your code, your directory structure and your project plan and you will get better help.

zzz000abc: I believe not, that was why I upgraded to LB.

For some reason EyeOnSql does not work for me. I figured if it would work I could work on from there to get on with my own project. But it did not work for me. It is probably a local error. That is why I asked for paid help.

Why are you asking that I post code when I already did in the other post. I put the dll's in both the system32 directory and in the project directory. Neither helped. I posted a small part of EyeOnSql. I used the entire EyeOnSql unedited. It did not work here.

But do not worry, I am now learning a lot using VB.NET and having fun on the way.

This is NOT an attack on LB. It just did not work for me and no one seemed to be able to help me forward, so I tried something else. With luck I hope.

No, it is an externl .dll that needs API access, so no JB

So the demo code does not run for you. How exactly does it fail? Does it load at all, where in the startup process does it fail, what error message do you get? Does it write anything to the error.log?

If you can supply feedback we can help, simply stating it does not work gives us nothing to work with.

But I have said that already.
