« Thread started on: Sep 26th, 2012, 05:34am »

Hi there,
Complete beginner but think this is what i want, particularly when it becomes cross platform.
Anyway i've got the download and unzipped it. I read the 'Read Me' txt file but can't get it to work
I'm using an old PPC Powerbook G4 OSX10.4 - is this the problem or am i doing something really stupid.
Thanks in advance

There is no LB5 for Mac released yet.

In general LB5 is currently under heavy alpha testing.

Yeah, i'm reffering to the pre-alpha release for Mac OS X.
I unzipped the file on my Desktop, tried the example

lb5run hilo.bas

and get the following

-bash: lb5run:command not found

like i said i'm a complete novice, just wandered if it's because my computer is quite old now

Why don't you play online with Run BASIC. That will give you a feel of the bulk of the BASIC command set that LB5 will support. The LB5 widgets will give a lot more desktop functionality but you can still have a lot of fun with Run BASIC and it won't be time wasted.

Also, folks have been able to run Liberty BASIC 4.04 on emulators, wine I think.

The pre-alpha is only console mode and supports just a small set of commands.

The command line must be specified as below to make sure the LB5 pre-alpha is not searched through the PATH variable.

Quote:
./lb5run hilo.bas

Notice the leading dot and slash.

As an alternative that runs in the browser and has more commands you should test Run BASIC.
