xx New video - Scripting in the Liberty BASIC Editor
« Thread started on: Jun 23rd, 2017, 9:30pm »

Hey all,

I just posted a new video showing how to use idefilename$() and also by adding an external TKN script to seamlessly use an external editor with Liberty BASIC.

https://youtu.be/NdLtauXZdAA

Enjoy!

I watched the video. I do not understand. You tried to show how to setup an external editor to work with Liberty BASIC, but you still run the external editor through Liberty BASIC. Can the external editor be made to write and run programs in Liberty BASIC without first opening Liberty BASIC to open and run the external editor?

Yeah, what I demonstrated will work with any editor, even Notepad. The demonstration is about features of Liberty BASIC, not so much about the other editor. wink

Two problems with the video are blurry and small, and sound is not very loud. In case these are difficult details to improve, maybe creating a transcript would be helpful.

The video runs fine for me and the sound is perfect. The sound is down to your own PC so play with the volume settings. The video image depends on how you have your YouTube display window set. When the video is running click on the cogwheel settings icon at bottom right of the screen and pick a higher resolution to watch the video.

That does help some, for visual clarity improvement. Volume is only reasonable if computer volume is increased all the way up.

There are two volume controls involved, the YouTube volume control at bottom left of the YouTube screen and the more important one your PC's volume control which sits at bottom right in the task bar on your desktop. If it is too low no matter how high the YouTube volume is the sound will be poor.

If that does not help then check you have the proper sound divers loaded for your PC. Use the Windows help system to talk you through how to do that.

Nice tip -- done!
If the Liberty BASIC IDE did not "refresh", per the setting you showed, after resaving the file in "the editor", this would not be worth it. As it does work, maybe I'll make fewer mistakes going from LBASIC to "the editor". Thanks. smiley

I turned them both up. Volume is then fine. on Jun 24th, 2017, 07:10am, Rod wrote:

Other than worrying about video drivers, I could try a different computer to see if better or different.

Great script!

I was just calling the external editor using its program path. Now it opens with the code ready to go.

What an excellent tip!
